Gooty Sapphire Ornamental

The Gooty Sapphire Ornamental Tarantula (Poecilotheria metallica) originates from the Andhra Pradesh region of India where it is considered critically endangered due to deforestation that has taken place in the spiders natural habitat. However in captivity, these spiders are fairly easy to keep and reproduce if kept under the right conditions, making them a popular choice amongst hobbyists. Adult females typically grow to a full size of six to seven inches when mature while the males are smaller and less robust in comparison to the females. Adults do well in large arboreal enclosures around 12"x12"x18" in size. These enjoy a moderate-high humidity level (60-80%) and are best kept at around 24-28 degrees Celsius.
